      Message from the Editor

Over the past two months I have highly enjoyed receiving haiku submissions for the first issue of clouds peak. However, my hat is tipped to anyone and everyone who has taken on a journal alone. A few times the huge influx of submissions got the best of me. But don't think I'll fold one day! This journal means the world to me.

Thanks to Geert, Denis, Deborah, and all the others who sent out this journal's information via e-mail, blog, website, forum, etc.; clouds peak would not have made it past the crawling stage had it not been for you guys and gals.

I hope you enjoy the haiku I chose to represent this journal. Seasons or style did not hold back any haiku that struck my eye during the submission process. The poets represented in this issue are very dear to my heart for having faith in such a new journal and new editor.

In regards to the next issue, expect it to be smaller due to the fact that I plan to be a little more strict on my haiku selection. Seasons will matter as well as style. Haiku and senryu will both be accepted; however, I believe my overall wish is to have a very traditional-driven journal that doesn't stray far from current English haiku journals in print and online. Also, I don't want a large amount of haiku taking away from each poem. About twenty-five to fifty poems will be expected in next issue of clouds peak.

Enjoy!

Sincerely,
Dustin Neal
